March Of Dimes Walk

Saturday we were up bright & early, drank our coffee(except Carson of course), & went walkin for healthy babies!
When we arrived there were of course tons of people & babies everywhere, it was great to see so many people supporting such a great cause. When the walk started we started down the path that began with a small field of stars with "in memory of" & "in honor of" <insert name> on them. I couldn't help but get teary-eyed looking at them & thinking about Carson's short three day stay in the NICU, the day after we came home from the hospital, at four days old (a story for a different day), and how terrifying that was, and how blessed we were to have a healthy baby boy. I also thought of the story of another bloggy momma Holly & her son Liam. Their story is one of strength, courage, & loss of a precious life & was on my mind and in my heart the entire time. I was walking for Liam's memory, all the little lives taken too soon & those who had to go through so much to be here today.

It was an amazing experience & we will definately be walking again next year!

Oh by the way, yesterday at King's Island in Cincinnati....this happened.

Awesome.

Bathroom Remodel!

We've been remodeling our bathroom the past couple weeks & I'm happy to say it is...fiiiiinnnaaallllyyy done! Well, almost. I still have to do a couple paint touch-ups, stain the trim & put a few decorations up but other than that, we have a full functioning bathroom again, Yay!

 After!

Carson checking out daddy's handy work...

And un-rolling the toilet paper

It was a bit frustrating, with everything being strewn about the house, & using the second bathroom at the other end of the house to potty in the middle of the night. Ugh. But in the end, I think it was worth it to not be totally embarassed everytime someone asked to use the bathroom.

Steppin Out Saturday: Family Portrait Edition

This Saturday we stepped out to have Carson's 1st Christmas & our first family pictures done. And holy shnikees was it a loooooong day! First of all, this place was p.a.c.k.e.d, and continued to get more packed the longer we were there. Our appointment was at 1:20pm which might as well have been at 2pm since we waited till about then. It didn't bother me much though, Carson was being super good playing with Daddy while I sat next to them, people watching =)  We ended up being there three hours total, UGH! But we got some great shots & a learning experience on what and what not to do from it all.

i love halloween

Saturday night was movie night, popcorn & diet Dew included. Our feature film was Rob Zombie's "Halloween II", have to admit I had forgotten how gory violent that movie is. Whew! Not gonna lie I was a bit disturbed. But it is a good movie to watch this time of year & I got to snuggle up closer to my lover during the really scary parts.

Today we carved a pumpkin for Carson. Yes, he just sat in his bouncer gumming his fist, drooling, & squealing for the most part but the kid LOVES the color orange so he looked at the pumpkin a lot.lol.=) After we were all finished we of course took some pics, I cleaned up, & roasted the pumpkin seeds.

He wasn't too thrilled, if you couldn't tell.bahahaha

5k for TaTa's

For the past three years my sister & I have done a 5k walk for breast cancer awareness.Walking with thousands of people that have been either directly or indirectly affected by this disease has always been a wonderful & inspiring experience. This year seemed especially empowering to me however.

A parade of women came to the stage to call out their names, how long they have been cancer free, in treatment, or recently diagnosed. As these women, some so young, gave just a little glimpse into their battles, I was in the audience tearing up, my big sunglasses the only thing hiding my emotions. I thought about how I would handle somehting like this, how I would tell my family or even worse, leaving my beautiful boy in this big world without me to guide him. He needs me, I'm his mommy & these women's families need them too! They are all so amazingly strong & brave having dealt/dealing with having cancer while still caring & providing for their families.

I'm so proud to have been part of this event & will continue to walk for a cure every year as long as there are still mommies being taken away from their babies ( no matter how old those "babies" are), you should too!

A book for baby

While at Books & Co. last weekend we picked up a new Halloween book for Carson's library...

It's called "Spooky's First Halloween"
Which we thought to be ironic because...

This is our cat, Spooky
(We got him in October, six years ago)
